5、良药苦口，忠言逆耳

耳中常闻逆耳之言，心中常有拂心之事，才是进修德行的砥石。若言言悦耳，事事快心，便把此生埋在鸩毒中矣。

Don't feel unhappy and depressed when faced with criticism and disappointment. In fact, frequently being criticised or disappointed is the best way to cultivate your mind and heart. If all that you have heard is pleasing to your ears and all that you have done or met is satisfactory, it means that you have drowned yourself in the poisoned wine.

解释：一个人的耳朵假若能常听些不中听的话，心里经常想些不如意的事，这才是敦品励德的好教训。反之，若每句话都好听，每件事都很称心，那就等于把自己的一生葬送在剧毒之中了。
